Nvidia GB300 GPUs Power Anthropic Claude on Azure; Taiwan Probes Chip Smuggling
NVDA•Anthropic’s Claude AI is now on Microsoft Azure using Nvidia GB300 GPUs, boosting inference performance and cutting enterprise AI ownership costs. Taiwanese authorities raided Super Micro’s offices over alleged Nvidia chip smuggling to China, highlighting potential export controls that could hinder Nvidia’s supply channels.
1. Azure Deployment of Claude Models
Anthropic’s Claude family of AI models is now available on Microsoft Azure running on Nvidia GB300 Blackwell Ultra GPUs. This deployment enables enterprises to build advanced autonomous and domain-specific AI agents with improved inference speeds and reduced total cost of ownership.
2. Strategic Nvidia-Azure-Anthropic Partnership
The Azure launch builds on a strategic collaboration announced last November between Nvidia, Anthropic and Microsoft to expand enterprise AI access through Nvidia-accelerated computing. The partnership integrates Nvidia Verified Agent Skills and Secure Agent Workspace Reference Design to streamline infrastructure authentication, networking and runtime policy controls for Claude agents.
3. Taiwan Chip Smuggling Probe Could Tighten Controls
Taiwan’s Keelung District Prosecutors Office raided Super Micro’s Taiwan offices and residences of affiliated individuals investigating alleged smuggling of Nvidia chips to China. Authorities are considering classifying AI chip exports to China as criminal offenses, a change that could impose stricter export controls and disrupt Nvidia’s regional distribution channels.
