Taiwan export orders rose 62.4% from a year earlier to $114.21 billion in September, above analysts’ expectations for 58.7% growth. The total exceeded $100 billion for a second consecutive month after orders reached $103 billion in August, and marked the 20th straight monthly gain.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs attributed the increase to demand for AI, high-performance computing and cloud services applications. It expects orders to rise 62.0% to 67.0% in October and said full-year orders could reach $1.1 trillion. The ministry cited geopolitical risks and trade policies as uncertainties, while saying Taiwan’s position in semiconductor and server supply chains would support order growth.
