Target Opens $367M 529,000-Sq-Ft Colorado Food Distribution Center
TGT•Target has opened a $367 million, 529,000-square-foot temperature-controlled food distribution center in Thornton, Colorado, serving 129 stores across 11 states and employing over 350 workers. The new facility, the largest of nine food DCs, adds consolidation capabilities and cuts replenishment times by up to two days.

The Thornton, Colorado center spans 529,000 square feet and features temperature control and dedicated consolidation bays. With a $367 million investment, it is the largest of Target’s nine food distribution centers and employs more than 350 people.
2. Enhanced Supply Chain Efficiency
Consolidation capabilities allow separate vendor shipments to be combined into fully loaded trucks, reducing transportation volume and costs. The center will replenish stores up to two days faster, improving in-stock reliability and expanding fresh assortment opportunities.
3. Strategic Growth in Fresh Food
This marks Target’s fourth food DC added in three years as the retailer expands its fresh supply chain network. The move supports the rollout of 3,000 new food items introduced in Q1, which saw sales rise over 50% versus the prior assortment.
