Tata and AMD to Deliver 100MW AI Data Center Scalable to 1GW in India

Tata Group will build a 100-megawatt AI-optimized data center in India, scalable to one gigawatt, in partnership with OpenAI. AMD will supply world-class AI rack architecture to deliver sustainable, high-density AI capacity alongside Tata Consultancy Services engineering and power expertise.

1. Tata-OpenAI Data Center Joint Venture

Tata Group has partnered with OpenAI to develop India’s first large-scale AI-optimized data center, starting with 100 megawatts of capacity and designed to expand to one gigawatt. The facility will leverage Tata’s infrastructure, engineering and power capabilities to support next-generation AI training and inference workloads.

2. AMD's Role in AI Rack Architecture

Under the collaboration, AMD will provide its world-class AI rack architecture to enable high-density AI compute capacity. This technology integration aims to ensure sustainable performance and efficiency within the Tata Consultancy Services-built facility, enhancing hardware utilization for large-scale AI operations.

3. Market Implications for AMD

The partnership strengthens AMD’s position in India’s rapidly growing AI infrastructure market, positioning it against competitors in the region.
