Tech props up the STOXX, construction drags
EWG•European shares rose 0.5% in early trading, led by technology stocks, while construction fell 0.5%. The FTSE 100 gained 0.4%.
1. European shares rise
The STOXX 600 rose 0.5% in early Tuesday trading, with AI-linked stocks, copper miners and electrical equipment firms supporting gains. Technology led sectors, up 1.9% to its highest level in a month; Legrand shares climbed 6% after it raised its medium-term targets.
2. Construction and stocks fall
Construction was the weakest sector, down 0.5%, after reports that the French government plans to increase taxes on motorway and airport operators. Consumer stocks came under pressure after Lindt cut its sales growth guidance. Julius Baer rose 8% after Swiss regulators closed an enforcement case tied to private debt loans and relationships with two politically exposed Russian clients.
