TeraWulf Secures 1GW Kentucky Data Campus with Redundant 345kV Substation
WULF•TeraWulf acquired a 285-acre East Kentucky site for its Muskie Data Campus, enabling over 1GW of HPC capacity with 500MW ramping in H2 2028 and another 500MW by H2 2030. Kentucky Power is building a 345kV substation tied to a 765kV network to deliver redundant utility-scale power.
1. Acquisition of Muskie Data Campus
TeraWulf acquired 285 acres in Eastern Kentucky for the Muskie Data Campus under a membership interest purchase agreement with Industrial Equity Partners, securing a site capable of supporting more than 1GW of high-performance computing capacity.
2. Power Infrastructure Setup
Kentucky Power is constructing a 345kV substation tied into a 765kV transmission network, delivering redundant utility-scale power. Concurrently executed energy service and transmission agreements guarantee large-scale power delivery for the full 1GW buildout.
3. Development Timeline and Future Impact
The first 500MW of capacity is slated to begin ramping in the second half of 2028, with the remaining 500MW targeted by the second half of 2030. This site, already zoned and with minimal preparatory requirements, complements TeraWulf’s existing 480MW facility in Hancock County.
