Tesla Plans April Start of Pedal-Free Cybercab with 5X Production Rate
Elon Musk reaffirmed that Tesla’s pedal- and steering-free Cybercab will enter production in April with a cautious slow start. The vehicle’s all-new manufacturing process targets roughly 5X higher production rates, projecting an initial S-curve ramp-up before achieving super high volume.
1. April Production Kickoff for Cybercab
Tesla will begin producing the Cybercab in April, introducing its first vehicle without traditional pedals or a steering wheel. Elon Musk emphasized a deliberately slow rollout to ensure quality and reliability in early units.
2. Radical Manufacturing Redesign for 5X Output
The Cybercab’s launch coincides with a complete overhaul of Tesla’s manufacturing approach, designed to deliver approximately five times the current production rate. This strategy anticipates an initial S-curve output that is slow to start but ultimately accelerates to high-volume manufacturing.
3. Autonomous Fleet Ambitions
Musk also projected that Tesla’s autonomous fleet will become the largest ever envisioned, even though current vehicles operate at Level 2 self-driving and still require human oversight. The long-term goal remains a fully driverless service with widespread deployment.
