Tesla posts stronger-than-expected quarterly deliveries
TSLA•Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the third quarter, beating analysts’ average estimate of 456,896. A recovery in Europe partly offset weaker demand in the US and China.
1. Delivery figures
Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles in the July-September period, compared with analysts’ average estimate of 456,896 vehicles. The company entered the quarter with its largest order backlog since 2023, finance chief Vaibhav Taneja said in July.
2. Regional demand
EU registrations rose by about two-thirds through August after a slump last year. In France, the Model Y became the best-selling car of any type, while exports from Tesla’s Shanghai factory nearly doubled in July and August.
3. Focus beyond deliveries
Analysts expect the slow rollout of Full Self-Driving software in Europe to help sales further; FSD is approved in eight countries. Tesla’s robotaxi service runs without a safety supervisor inside the car in Texas and Florida, and the company added its Cybercab to the Austin service last month.
