Tesla energy executive Snyder reportedly steps down
TSLA•Tesla energy and charging vice president Mike Snyder has stepped down, and AJ Booth will succeed him, reportedly. Tesla’s energy business grew 9.6% in the third quarter by battery energy deployed.
1. Leadership change
Mike Snyder has stepped down as Tesla’s vice president of energy and charging, and AJ Booth, senior director of energy products engineering, will succeed him. The reported departure could not be independently verified, and Tesla did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
2. Energy business
Snyder joined Tesla in 2014, led its Megapack industrial battery division and became a vice president in 2024 after a restructuring that preceded the exit of several top executives, including longtime energy chief Drew Baglino. Tesla said earlier this month that its energy business grew 9.6% in the third quarter, measured by battery energy deployed. Energy accounted for about 11% of revenue in the first half of the year, compared with 70% for electric vehicles.
3. Expansion plans
Tesla is expanding sales of industrial-scale batteries for data centers and offers products for renewable energy on the grid and in homes. It has proposed building a $10 billion solar factory in Texas.
