Thailand Cuts Permitting Time 50% to Mobilize $21B in PCB, Electronics Projects
PCB•Thailand’s FastPass initiative has secured USD21 billion in high-tech investments, including 76 projects valued at USD14.4 billion in phase one and 25 projects worth USD6.7 billion in phase two. The program integrates eight agencies to cut regulatory timelines by 20–50%, accelerating development in sectors such as high-density printed circuit boards.
1. Program Overview
Thailand’s FastPass program unites eight government bodies—including the BOI, Customs, ONEP and IEAT—under one pipeline to streamline permitting for high-tech projects. By signing an MOU, agencies committed to reducing approval and licensing timelines by 20–50%, covering factory permits, environmental assessments and power connections.
2. Phase One and Two Deployment
In phase one, FastPass cleared 76 projects worth USD14.4 billion, while phase two granted certificates to 25 projects from 23 companies valued at USD6.7 billion. Together these cohorts mobilize over 700 billion baht and are projected to create more than 13,000 high-skilled jobs across advanced electronics, aerospace, machinery and recycled plastics.
3. Impact on PCB Sector
High-density printed circuit board manufacturers gained streamlined access to permits under FastPass, enabling faster factory build-outs and integration into global supply chains. The program’s 50% reduction in approval timelines is expected to boost PCB capacity, attract further foreign investment and strengthen Thailand’s role in regional electronics manufacturing.
