ThredUp Debuts Direct Listing Beta With 18% Listings Above $100 and $60 Average Sale
TDUP•ThredUp launched a Direct Listing beta allowing sellers to list items fee-free and set prices, boosting premium inventory listings by double digits m-o-m with 18% priced above $100 and a $60 average sale, over twice the legacy platform. The service offers AI-powered photo editing, pricing suggestions and returns handling.
1. Direct Listing Beta Launch
ThredUp has introduced an open beta of its Direct Listing peer-to-peer marketplace, enabling users to list single items without seller fees and set their own prices. This marks a strategic shift from a fully managed consignment model to a more flexible seller-driven platform.
2. Performance and Pricing
During beta testing, ThredUp saw double-digit month-over-month growth in premium inventory listings and orders. Nearly 18% of Direct Listings were priced above $100, while the average sale price reached $60, more than double the average on the traditional marketplace.
3. AI Tools and Logistics
Direct Listing integrates built-in AI tools for background removal, product detail auto-fill and smart pricing recommendations. Sellers also gain access to ThredUp’s distribution centers and customer service logistics for returns management, reducing seller workload and dispute handling.
