TotalEnergies Secures 10% Stake in Abu Dhabi Bab Gas Cap Project Targeting 1.5 Bcf/d
TTE•TotalEnergies will acquire a 10% interest in Abu Dhabi’s Bab Gas Cap Concession, joining ADNOC Onshore (60%) with bp (10%), CNPC (8%), JODCO/INPEX (5%), ZhenHua (4%) and GS Energy (3%) to target 1.5 bcf/d gas production. It leverages its 10% Ruwais LNG stake, supporting UAE gas output feeding LNG expansion.

TotalEnergies is set to acquire a 10% interest in the Bab Gas Cap Concession in Abu Dhabi, joining ADNOC Onshore’s 60% stake alongside bp (10%), CNPC (8%), JODCO/INPEX (5%), ZhenHua (4%) and GS Energy (3%).
2. Production Targets and Project Scope
The Bab Gas Cap project aims to develop gas cap resources above the Bab onshore oil field, targeting 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of gas production along with valuable condensate streams.
3. Strategic Implications for TotalEnergies
This investment complements TotalEnergies’ existing 10% holding in the Ruwais LNG project, enhancing its low-cost, low-emission gas portfolio and supporting the UAE’s LNG value chain expansion.
4. TotalEnergies’ UAE Footprint
Active in the UAE for 87 years, TotalEnergies’ interests contributed approximately 393,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2025 and include stakes in ADNOC LNG, renewable energy and lubricants manufacturing.
