Toyota April Vehicle Sales Fall 3.1% with China, Middle East Slumps
TM•Toyota's April global vehicle sales fell 3.1% year-on-year to 849,306 units, driven by 25.4% and 33.7% declines in China (106,479) and the Middle East (31,000). Domestic sales in Japan rose 24.2% to 149,924 units while US deliveries slipped 4.6% to 222,378 units, and production increased 2% to 831,971 units.
1. Global Sales Decline
Toyota reported a 3.1% year-on-year drop in global vehicle sales in April to 849,306 units, marking the third consecutive monthly decline.
2. Regional Performance Breakdown
Sales in China plunged 25.4% to 106,479 units and Middle East deliveries fell 33.7% to 31,000 units, offsetting a 24.2% rebound in domestic Japanese sales to 149,924 units. US volumes slipped 4.6% to 222,378 units amid last year’s pre-tariff demand surge and the transition to the all-new RAV4.
3. Production Increase
Overall production rose 2% to 831,971 units in April, reflecting resumed manufacturing capacity and inventory replenishment following earlier pauses tied to tax-related demand fluctuations.
