TDG•TransDigm agrees to buy Prince & Izant for $1.07 billion
TransDigm Group TDG.N said on Monday it would buy Prince & Izant, a U.S. manufacturer of brazing alloys and metal components used in aerospace and defense industries, from private equity firm Industrial Growth Partners for about $1.07 billion in cash.
Aerospace and defense suppliers have been benefiting from strong demand for new aircraft, maintenance work and military equipment.
- The Cleveland, Ohio-based Prince & Izant makes specialized brazing alloys and metal components for aerospace, defense and transportation markets, with applications ranging from aircraft engines to rocket propulsion systems. It also serves medical and industrial customers.
- Brazing alloys are filler materials used to bond two metal parts.
- Prince & Izant is expected to generate about $360 million in revenue in 2026.
- Industrial Growth Partners bought the company from the Brandenburg family in June 2022 for an undisclosed sum.
- TransDigm designs, produces and supplies aircraft components used on nearly all commercial and military aircraft in service globally.
- The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals in the United States and customary closing condition.
- In July, TransDigm withdrew from its proposed $960 million acquisition of Stellant Systems, a defense electronics supplier owned by Arlington Capital Partners, saying it had determined that pursuing the deal through the regulatory review process was no longer in its best interest.
- TransDigm raised its annual profit forecast in May after posting a better-than-expected quarterly profit on strong aftermarket demand.
