Trilogy Metals Begins Section 404 Permitting and $35M Drill Program in Alaska

Trilogy Metals' Ambler joint venture has submitted Section 404 permit application to the USACE and plans to seek FAST-41 coverage for Alaska's high-grade Arctic copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver project. The $35 million 2026 field program will drill up to 5,650 meters across Arctic and Bornite targets, supporting job creation and future mine studies.

1. Permitting Initiation and FAST-41 Eligibility

Ambler Metals, a 50/50 joint venture of Trilogy Metals and South32, has submitted a Clean Water Act Section 404 permit application to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and seeks FAST-41 program eligibility to streamline federal review for the high-grade Arctic copper-zinc-lead-gold-silver project in northwestern Alaska.

2. Economic Impact Projections

Economic analysis projects Arctic mine construction and operations will support 870 statewide jobs, generate over US$31 million in annual state taxes and fees, and reduce transportation costs for remote communities by up to US$3.4 million per year, cutting heating fuel costs by 70% and home-building costs by nearly 40%.

3. 2026 Field Program Plans

The fully financed US$35 million 2026 field program will mobilize by end of May to drill 40–45 holes totalling at least 5,650 metres for geotechnical, hydrogeological and exploration purposes at Arctic, while re-establishing the Bornite camp in preparation for accelerated development in 2027.

4. District-Wide Exploration Outlook

Arctic’s strong cash-flow potential at spot metal prices is expected to fund district-wide exploration across 30 known VMS occurrences, including the high-grade Bornite copper-cobalt deposit which forecasts 1.9 billion pounds of copper output over a 17-year mine life and potential to extend mining beyond 30 years.
