1. Order under preparation
Trump is preparing an executive order to expand access to tax-exempt diesel, two sources familiar with the matter said. The order could be unveiled as soon as Monday and may include making more red-dye diesel available, a fuel used by agriculture and some off-road vehicles.
2. Possible tax waivers
A third source said the order will likely direct the U.S. Department of Transportation to coordinate with states on waiving taxes on road diesel. Diesel prices reached a record of about $6.50 a gallon last month. The G7 announced last week that it would release 100 million barrels of diesel, but it was unclear how much would be new supply.
