1. Lawsuit Update
On Wednesday in Miami, Trump filed an amended complaint seeking at least $10 billion in damages over a July 2025 Journal article that alleged he sent a suggestive birthday note to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003. The filing renews claims of false reporting and seeks to hold Rupert Murdoch, CEO Robert Thomson and two reporters personally liable.

In April, a federal judge dismissed Trump’s initial suit for failing to establish “actual malice,” a required standard for public figure defamation. The judge ruled the original complaint did not demonstrate that the publication knowingly published false information or acted with reckless disregard.
3. Market Reaction
News Corp Class A shares slid 0.07% in premarket trading after the updated lawsuit was announced. Investors will watch how the publisher defends its journalistic standards and the potential financial exposure if the case proceeds to trial.
