TSX futures rise as softer oil prices, bond yields lift risk appetite
EWC•December futures for Canada's S&P/TSX index rose 0.42% as easing oil prices and a pullback in global bond yields lifted risk appetite, while weaker metal prices capped gains.
1. Futures climb
December futures for the S&P/TSX index were up 0.42% at 6:03 a.m. ET on Tuesday. Oil prices fell, with Brent dipping below $100 a barrel, and the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield pulled back after reaching a 24-year high on Monday.
2. Market factors
Persistent inflation and rising government debt continued to keep bond and equity markets on edge. Gold prices also eased, while the Canadian index had edged higher in the previous session as technology gains offset declines in energy and financials.
