TSX opens lower on softer precious metals

Sept. 23 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened lower on Wednesday, dragged down by materials shares as prices of precious metals including gold and silver slipped, while investors eyed Middle East peace prospects.

The S&P/TSX Composite Index (.GSPTSE) fell 0.71% to 36,078.96 points by 09:32 a.m. ET.
