UBERUBER

Uber is investing over $100 million to build fast-charging hubs for autonomous vehicles in LA, Dallas and the San Francisco Bay Area and has secured EVgo utilization agreements in New York, Boston, LA and San Francisco. It also partnered with Electra, Hubber and Ionity to expand networks across European cities.

1. $100M Investment and U.S. Rollout

Uber is committing more than $100 million to deploy a network of fast-charging hubs and smaller pit stops tailored for autonomous vehicles across Los Angeles, Dallas and the San Francisco Bay Area. The hubs will feature high-speed chargers designed to minimize downtime and ensure AV fleets maintain continuous operation in dense urban environments.

2. EVgo Utilization Agreements

The company has secured utilization guarantee agreements with EVgo in New York, Los Angeles, Boston and San Francisco, locking in minimum charger usage levels to optimize network efficiency and drive partner investment. These arrangements aim to accelerate station availability and provide predictable demand metrics for EVgo’s charging infrastructure.

3. European Partnerships and Competitive Positioning

In Europe, Uber has partnered with Electra, Hubber and Ionity to extend its fast-charging footprint into key cities, enhancing cross-border network accessibility for AV fleets. This expansion supports Uber’s strategic goal to compete with established rivals like Waymo and Tesla in the race for scalable, electrified robotaxi services.
