Uber robotaxis logged thousands of lost items including dentures and a 15-pound yo-yo
UBER•Uber’s Lost & Found Index reports thousands of items abandoned in robotaxis since March 2025, including dentures, a Squishmallow and a 15-pound yo-yo. Uber’s app-based recovery system in Austin, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Dallas offers in-app support and a $15 same-day delivery or depot pickup option.
1. Thousands of Lost Items in Robotaxis
Uber’s annual Lost & Found Index reveals that over the past 12 months, riders left behind thousands of items in robotaxis on its network. Reported objects range from everyday essentials like phones, keys and wallets to unusual items such as dentures, a Squishmallow, a Charli XCX poster and a 15-pound yo-yo.
2. Autonomous Fleet Expands Across Major Cities
Since the March 2025 launch of the "Waymo on Uber" service in Austin, Uber has added robotaxi operations in Atlanta with Waymo, and integrated Motional in Las Vegas and Avride in Dallas. All services remain part of Uber’s ride-hailing app, building on partnerships with multiple AV technology providers.
3. Streamlined Recovery Process and Revenue Potential
Riders locate lost items via the Uber app by selecting the trip and contacting support, then choose between a $15 same-day courier delivery or personal pickup at an AV depot. While minor in scale, this recovery system underscores a revenue opportunity as Uber’s autonomous network grows.
