UBS issues new paper to counter misconceptions in Swiss bank regulation debate
UBS•Views on AT1 and capital requirements
UBS endorsed proposals to strengthen Additional Tier 1 (AT1) instruments, calling them an effective early-intervention tool to create CET1 in a crisis.
It supported the WAK-S majority “50/50” model, arguing it protects taxpayers as well as the federal government plan while triggering action earlier.
UBS warned that a 90% CET1 backing requirement would hurt competitiveness, adding that extreme regulation would weigh on Switzerland’s economy.
UBS publishes paper on Swiss bank regulation debate
UBS issued an additional position paper to correct what it called misinterpretations in Switzerland’s bank-regulation debate.
The paper backs targeted, proportionate, internationally aligned changes aimed at addressing the causes of the Credit Suisse crisis.
