UK diesel prices hit record highs due to Iran war
USO•UK diesel prices reached a record 199.18 pence per litre, making it almost £110 to fill an average family car—£31 more than before the conflict began.
1. Record pump prices
The UK price of diesel at the pump reached 199.18 pence per litre, surpassing the previous record of 199.09 pence set in June 2022. The RAC said the rise was due to the US-Israeli war on Iran.
2. Supply pressures
Higher diesel costs are adding to transport and logistics expenses for goods, as the fuel is widely used in industry and agriculture. International diesel prices have also been pushed higher by shrinking refining capacity and supply disruptions linked to conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.
3. UK import exposure
The UK imports nearly 55% of the diesel it consumes. Diesel imports accounted for nearly 40% of the country's oil-product imports in 2025, with the United States supplying 31%.
