UK finance minister says ‘fiscal discipline’ will form core of budget
EWU•Britain’s finance minister John Healey said fiscal discipline will be at the core of his first budget on October 28. He said the cost of servicing high debt levels was diverting money from public services.

Healey told the Labour Party conference that fiscal discipline would be central to the budget, saying it was intended to give families and businesses breathing space and support growth and jobs. He called high debt levels “an affront” to Labour’s values and said he and the prime minister were committed to meeting the fiscal rules.
