Ulta Beauty Launches Shop-in-Shop Wellness Pilot in Four Locations

ULTAULTA

Ulta Beauty is launching its “Wellness by Ulta” shop-in-shop concept this week in four locations, including stores in Columbus, Ohio; Short Pump, Virginia; and Peabody, Massachusetts. First introduced as a curated wellness section in 2021, the in-store rollout could boost same-store sales and diversify revenue streams.

1. Weekly Momentum Strengthens

Ulta Beauty shares climbed 3.41% over the past five trading days, outperforming the broad retail sector. This weekly advance follows two consecutive weeks of modest gains, driven by robust consumer spending on at-home beauty services and sustained growth in loyalty program enrollments, which reached a record 38 million active members this quarter.

2. Recent Trading Session Pullback

In the latest session, Ulta Beauty stock retreated by 3.61%, underperforming the overall market rally. Trading volume spiked 22% above the 30-day average, suggesting increased profit-taking by short-term investors. Analysts attribute the pullback to rotation into cyclical names after the company reported a slight slowdown in comparable-store sales growth for the first half of February.

3. Expansion of Wellness by Ulta Pilot

Ulta Beauty is deepening its commitment to the self-care trend by rolling out its Wellness by Ulta shop-in-shop concept in four pilot locations this week. The new sections, located in Columbus, Ohio; Short Pump, Virginia; Peabody, Massachusetts; and one additional market, feature curated assortments of vitamins, herbal supplements and aromatherapy products. Early data from the initial 2021 concept indicate a 12% lift in average transaction values within those test locations.
