Union Pacific deploys first two Wabtec FLXdrive battery-electric locomotives in Southern California

Union Pacific began deploying two Wabtec FLXdrive battery-electric locomotives in Southern California, expanding real-world testing of next-generation rail technology.

A four-unit fleet will operate in the Greater Los Angeles area, with two additional locomotives scheduled to arrive in October.

Each unit stores about 2.7 MWh of energy, producing zero tailpipe emissions during operation.
