1. Specialty 250th Anniversary Livery
United applied its new “Stars and Stripes” design this summer to a U.S.-built Boeing 787-10 and 737-800. Painted in Amarillo, Texas, the scheme features 50 stars for each state and diagonal red and white stripes symbolizing national momentum, with commemorative plaques honoring active-duty service members and veterans.
2. Military Pilot Program Milestone
Launched in 2024, the United Military Pilot Program has secured conditional job offers for nearly 600 active-duty U.S. military pilots transitioning to First Officer roles. The airline expects an additional 500 hires by the end of 2027, easing future cockpit staffing demands.
3. Veteran Employment and Support Initiatives
United employs over 8,300 military veterans, including 1,500 active Guard and Reserve members, and counts more than 4,500 veteran pilots among its 18,000-strong cockpit staff. The carrier also supports veterans through its United for Veterans group, MileagePlus donations, and partnerships offering flights and volunteer programs for service members and their families.
