UAL•United’s Newark hub recorded its best-ever on-time performance in April and May, flying nearly 5.8 million passengers and achieving nearly 70% on-time arrivals over the Memorial Day period. 1. Newark’s On-Time Performance Revival
Newark Liberty International led all major Northeast airports in on-time flights for 2026, with United achieving its best-ever on-time rates in April and May while flying nearly 5.8 million passengers. Over the Memorial Day holiday, the airline carried a record three million travelers with roughly 70% arriving on schedule, following FAA staffing and technology upgrades and flight-limit measures implemented to match capacity.
2. Summer Passenger Forecast and Network Expansion
United projects more than 53 million travelers this summer across its network and continues to strengthen Newark’s role as a global gateway. The airline serves 320 cities from EWR, including 42 nonstop destinations in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and India, and will add exclusive routes to Seoul starting September 4 and St. Croix in October.
3. Service Enhancements and Technology Investments
To bolster customer loyalty, United is deploying Starlink Wi-Fi across its regional fleet with full installation expected by end of 2027, offering high-speed connectivity on over 25% of daily flights. Additional upgrades include Bluetooth-enabled seatback screens, larger overhead bins, pre-order dining options, live boarding updates, real-time bag tracking and advanced features in the United Mobile App.
