UPS to quadruple Hong Kong hub capacity to 1.1 million tons by 2028
UPS will quadruple its Hong Kong hub to handle 1.1 million tons annually by 2028 and merge two sites into one automated facility sorting 15,000 packages per hour. The 68,500 sq ft Incheon facility expands fourfold with 4.5x sorting capacity and storage, and a Clark Philippines hub opens this year.
1. Hong Kong Hub Expansion
UPS began construction on a new Hong Kong International Airport hub that will be quadruple the size of its current facility, capable of handling nearly 1.1 million tons of cargo annually by 2028. The project collapses two existing operations into one automated site, sorting up to 15,000 packages per hour and enhancing freighter access across South China and the Asia-Pacific.
2. Incheon Terminal Upgrade
The newly opened 68,500 sq ft facility at Incheon Airport is four times larger than the previous hub and features advanced automated sorting that boosts parcel processing by 4.5 times. It includes temperature-controlled storage ranging from –4°F to –13°F, enabling same-day deliveries for regional imports and two-business-day service for European shipments.
3. Clark Philippines Hub Plans
Later this year, UPS will move into a new air hub at Clark International Airport in the Philippines to strengthen connectivity across the Asia-Pacific region. This addition will improve access to freighter aircraft and support growing cross-border e-commerce and supply chain demands.
