Ur-Energy Secures WDEQ OK for Full-Scale ISR, Moves 10,500 Pounds Resin
URG•Ur-Energy received final WDEQ authorization to transition Shirley Basin to full-scale ISR operations and transport uranium-loaded resin to Lost Creek. Since April 2026, 10,500 pounds of uranium have been loaded onto resin, with shipments to the central processing plant starting in the coming weeks.
1. Regulatory Approval
The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality granted final authorization under Radioactive Materials License WYSUA-2010, allowing Shirley Basin to shift from limited to full-scale in situ recovery operations. WDEQ confirmed that all safety systems, staffing, radiation programs and environmental monitoring measures meet state requirements.
2. Production Update
Uranium recovery at Shirley Basin began in April 2026 and has yielded approximately 10,500 pounds of uranium loaded onto resin. Shipments of the loaded resin to the Lost Creek processing facility will commence in the coming weeks as wellfield flow rates are increased toward full commercial levels.
3. Strategic Integration
Transporting resin to Lost Creek leverages its established elution, precipitation, drying and drumming infrastructure, avoiding duplicate capital expenditures. Combined, Lost Creek and Shirley Basin hold a licensed annual capacity of 4.2 million pounds of U₃O₈, positioning the company for scalable production growth.
