US authorizes exchange of up to 4 million barrels from SPR for storm disruptions
USO•The US Energy Department authorized an emergency exchange of up to 4 million barrels of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to address supply disruptions caused by Hurricane Isaias.
1. Emergency exchange
The Energy Department said it authorized the exchange on Saturday. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright said it was intended to help maintain refinery operations, limit fuel-supply disruptions and preserve access to energy.
