US-based Kalitta Air orders Airbus freighter jets, sources say
Three people familiar with the order said Kalitta Air ordered eight Airbus A350F freighters, while the airline said it was evaluating the aircraft and had no order to announce.
1. Order remains disputed
Three people familiar with the order said Kalitta Air ordered eight Airbus A350F freighters, marking a move beyond its long-time Boeing supplier. Airbus listed an unidentified order for eight freighters on August 31 as a firm contract, the people said. Kalitta Air said it remained in the evaluation phase and had no aircraft order to announce.
2. Fleet and negotiations
The Michigan-based cargo airline operates more than two dozen Boeing 747 and 777 freighters on scheduled and charter flights for customers including the Pentagon and the U.S. Postal Service. The Air Line Pilots Association said its members had been negotiating with Kalitta Air management since late 2024.
