Soybean basis bids rise at some Midwest processing plants
CHICAGO, Aug. 31 (Reuters) - Basis bids for soybeans jumped at some processing facilities in the U.S. Midwest on Monday, spot checks showed, as crushers sought to secure supplies ahead of the autumn harvest.
Processors in Decatur, Illinois, and Morristown, Indiana, each raised their basis by 10 cents per bushel for delivery this week.
A facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, increased its basis by 40 cents for near-term delivery.
For corn, basis bids were mostly steady.
Chicago Board of Trade soybean Sv1 and corn Cv1 futures set contract highs.
Futures prices have been rising since mid-August due to worries over U.S. corn yield prospects and escalating tensions that have disrupted Russian and Ukrainian grain exports from the Black Sea region. GRA/
The U.S. Department of Agriculture is expected to lower its condition ratings for the nation's corn and soybean crops in a weekly report on Monday, according to a Reuters poll of 10 analysts.
