US equity funds post first inflow in five weeks on renewed AI optimism
SPY•US equity funds attracted a net $37.6 billion in the week ended September 25, their largest weekly net purchase since June 17. Technology funds drew $4.89 billion as bond fund inflows rose to $5.93 billion.
1. Equity fund inflows
Investors bought a net $37.6 billion of US equity funds in the week ended September 25, the first inflow in five weeks. Large-cap funds received $36.62 billion, while mid-cap and small-cap funds saw outflows of $372 million and $1.02 billion. Technology funds attracted $4.89 billion, while financial funds lost $2.53 billion.
2. Bond and cash funds
US bond fund inflows rose to $5.93 billion from roughly $562 million the previous week, and money market funds attracted about $11 billion after two weeks of outflows. A rise in 30-year Treasury yields to a 22-year high of 5.5016% tempered investors' risk appetite.
