US natgas stockpile to rise to decade high ahead of peak winter demand, EIA says

NEW YORK, Aug. 11 (Reuters) - U.S. natural gas inventories are set to rise to a decade high of around four trillion cubic feet in October, the biggest buffer the country has had ahead of the peak winter heating season since 2016, the Energy Information Administration said on Tuesday.
EIA says larger fall inventories cushion winter demand
“More natural gas in inventories in the fall season provides a cushion for increased heating-related consumption during the winter,” EIA Administrator Tristan Abbey said in a press release.
Higher output and lower LNG maintenance demand to lift stocks
Higher natural gas output and reduced consumption by liquefied natural gas facilities undergoing maintenance will contribute to higher inventories, the EIA said.
