U.S. Soybean Exports Slide 76% to $3.1B as Brazil Grabs 60% Market Share

Washington has secured commitments for 25 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans annually through 2028, with nearly one million metric tons contracted for the 2026 harvest.
U.S. soybean exports to China fell to 7.37 million metric tons valued at $3.1 billion in 2025, down 76% from 2022 shipments of 17.9 million metric tons. Brazilian supplies now account for more than 60% of Chinese imports, compared with 23% for U.S. farmers.
Federal and industry agreements call for China to purchase 25 million metric tons of American soybeans annually through 2028. Buyers have contracted nearly one million metric tons for the 2026 harvest, with additional private sales reported for the 2026-27 marketing year.
