1. Futures rise as oil eases
US stock index futures ticked higher on Monday after crude oil retreated from last week’s surge. At 5:19 a.m. ET, Dow futures were up 0.49%, S&P 500 futures 0.3% and Nasdaq 100 futures 0.25%.
2. Earnings in focus
About one-third of S&P 500 companies are scheduled to report results this week, including Alphabet, Microsoft and Amazon. Investors are watching for signs that substantial AI investments are paying off. CoreWeave and Nebius, each down more than 30% this month, fell around 3% in premarket trading after Elon Musk predicted a shakeout and consolidation among neocloud firms.
3. Fed decision due Wednesday
The Federal Reserve’s rate decision is due Wednesday, with a pause widely expected after its September hike. The September Personal Consumption Expenditures inflation index and third-quarter GDP data, expected to show 3.2% growth, are also due this week.
