US Stocks-S&P 500, Dow on course for slim gains at open as Iran tensions clash with AI optimism
SPY•Energy stocks ease ahead of jobs report
Energy stocks, which have been among the few gainers in recent sessions, dipped marginally as Brent crude LCOc1 erased gains from earlier in the session. Chevron CVX.N and Valero Energy VLO.N each edged 0.58% lower.
Investors will also parse the jobs report on Friday, which could help set the tone for equities. Recent inflation data has offered mixed cues.
Wall Street set for modestly higher open
The benchmark S&P 500 and the blue-chip Dow indexes looked set for modest gains at the open on Wednesday, as investors weighed renewed U.S.-Iran clashes against signs of strength in the AI trade.
The latest strikes have pushed geopolitical tensions front and center, ending the uneasy calm of the past few weeks and reviving inflation concerns.
