US Stocks-Wall St ticks lower as markets monitor Hormuz situation; data awaited

In the market, six of the 11 S&P 500 sectors were lower, with real estate .SPLRCR and consumer staples stocks .SPLRCS the biggest weights.
The S&P 500 information technology index .SPLRCT lost 0.4%. Apple AAPL.O declined 2.4% following a stock downgrade by Jefferies, while Intel INTC.O dropped 4.8% after launching a $15 billion stock offering.
On the flip side, the S&P 500 energy index .SPNY jumped 2.6%, tracking a 2% gain in oil prices.
At 9:35 a.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average .DJI fell 72.88 points, or 0.13%, to 53,964.05, the S&P 500 .SPX lost 5.22 points, or 0.07%, to 7,752.42 and the Nasdaq Composite .IXIC lost 61.56 points, or 0.23%, to 26,629.06.
