Vaalco Encounters Water in 10m Gamba Sands, Plans ET-14H Sidetrack
Vaalco completed the Etame West ET-14P well, encountering 10 meters of high-quality Gamba sands that proved water-bearing and will be plugged and abandoned in the lower section. The company will sidetrack the wellbore to drill an ET-14H development well in the Main Fault Block, targeting completion in April.
1. ET-14P Drilling Results
Vaalco has completed drilling of the Etame West ET-14P exploration well, encountering 10 meters of high-quality Gamba sands in line with pre-drill predictions, but the target zone proved water-bearing, prompting plug and abandonment of the lower section.
2. Sidetrack Plan for ET-14H Development Well
The company will sidetrack the existing wellbore in its upper portion to drill the ET-14H development well within the Main Fault Block, leveraging a known productive area pending partner approval.
3. Expected Completion and Next Steps
Operations related to sidetracking and drilling the ET-14H well are scheduled for completion in April, with partner consent needed before mobilization of further resources.
