Vale names Reinaldo Castanheira as vice chairman of board
VALE•Vale elected Reinaldo Duarte Castanheira Filho vice chairman effective Aug. 1, 2026, after Marcelo Gasparino da Silva resigned from the board and vice chairman role.
1. Board changes
Vale removed Gasparino from the Nomination and Governance Committee and the People and Remuneration Committee as a sanction tied to deliberate disclosure of confidential board information. He resigned as a board member and vice chairman effective Aug. 1, 2026, making shareholder confirmation of his removal moot. The board also appointed Wilfred Theodoor Bruijn lead independent director effective that date; he had served as interim board chairman from July 14, 2026.
