1. Valeo Breaks Ground on Texas Compute Unit Plant
Valeo has started construction on a 337,000ft² manufacturing facility in McAllen, Texas, committing $225 million over five years. The plant will produce General Motors’ liquid-cooled central compute unit for software-defined vehicles, support one of Valeo’s largest orders under its Elevate 2028 strategy, and create up to 500 jobs with production beginning in late 2027.
2. Silao Plant Workers Vote on 10% Raise Proposal
The union representing employees at General Motors’ Silao, Mexico plant will hold a vote on a proposal to increase wages by 10% for the 2026-2028 contract cycle. Approval of the hike could raise labor costs and influence GM’s operating margins and cost forecasts for its Mexican manufacturing operations.
