Vance says details of proposed Alaska LNG pipeline need to be worked out
UNG•Vice President JD Vance said the proposed Alaska LNG pipeline was going to happen, but some details still needed to be worked out with South Korea. South Korea plans to review the investment’s commercial viability after President Donald Trump announced a proposed $200 billion investment in U.S. projects, including the pipeline.
1. Details remain unresolved
Vance said the long-planned Alaska liquefied natural gas pipeline was going to happen, but details needed to be worked out with South Korea. He said there was strong demand for American natural gas and that he thought the project could be completed.
2. South Korea to review project
South Korean Finance Minister Lee Hyoung-il said the government planned to review the investment for commercial viability. Industry Minister Kim Jung-kwan said commercial viability was a prerequisite, while the project also had strategic value given energy supply disruptions caused by the Middle East conflict.
