Vanguard Integrates Voice-Activated Proxy Voting With Amazon Alexa for $3T AUM
Vanguard has integrated voice-activated proxy voting into Amazon Alexa, enabling investors to cast votes across $3T in index fund assets using simple voice commands. The service will expand to $6T AUM by year-end with five policy-driven voting options.
1. Partnership Launch
Vanguard and Amazon have launched a voice-activated proxy voting feature through Alexa, allowing index fund investors to engage in proxy decisions with simple verbal commands. This collaboration integrates investor choice directly into the Alexa Plus experience, marking a first-of-its-kind innovation in retail investor engagement.
2. Features and Rollout
The service currently supports voting for over $3 trillion in assets under management, offering five distinct policy options ranging from following management recommendations to ESG-focused or abstention strategies. Vanguard plans to extend the functionality to all US equity index funds, encompassing over $6 trillion AUM by the end of next year.
