Viasat Unveils TMF Edge-to-Cloud Connectivity with Resilient AI-Powered Networking
Viasat introduced Tactical Mission Fabric (TMF), an edge-to-cloud networking overlay providing resilient multi-path and mesh connectivity with distributed cloud compute for real-time, AI-powered data analysis in contested environments. The solution integrates SATCOM, 5G, MANET and legacy radios while supporting secure cloud access and will demo at Modern Day Marine.
1. Viasat Launches Tactical Mission Fabric
Viasat introduced Tactical Mission Fabric (TMF), a comprehensive edge-to-cloud networking overlay designed to augment existing military tactical networks. TMF delivers assured, multi-path connectivity and mesh networking combined with distributed cloud compute to accelerate data-driven decision making in contested environments.
2. Multi-Path Network Orchestration
The software-defined, cloud-native orchestration platform treats SATCOM, 5G, MANET and legacy tactical radios as interchangeable transports. TMF’s NetAgility engine provides automated failover and support for Autonomous Primary, Alternate, Contingency and Emergency plans to maintain connectivity under electronic warfare and cyber-attack conditions.
3. Real-Time Secure Cloud Connections
TMF transforms standard tactical gateways into accredited intra-theater cloud nodes, eliminating latency for real-time AI and machine learning analysis. The solution establishes a high-speed, mesh-protected backbone linking edge compute to Impact Level 5 and 6 cloud environments, with dual-layer encryption and 24/7 cybersecurity monitoring.
4. Demonstration at Modern Day Marine
Viasat will showcase TMF in Washington, D.C. on April 28-30, simulating a contested network attack to demonstrate continuous AI-targeting sessions and instantaneous synchronization of tactical data with secure government cloud infrastructure.
