VinFast, NVIDIA and Autobrains Launch Level 4 Robotaxi Program and Pilot Level 2++ ADAS
VFS•VinFast partnered with NVIDIA and Autobrains to develop a Level 4 robotaxi program on the DRIVE Hyperion platform for Southeast Asia and is piloting enhanced Level 2++ ADAS on its VF 8 and VF 9 models. Its camera-first system uses seven cameras with a 20-trillion-ops-per-second AI platform to streamline costs.
1. Strategic Level 4 Robotaxi Partnership
VinFast has entered a strategic collaboration with NVIDIA and Autobrains to develop a next-generation Level 4 robotaxi program for the Southeast Asian market using the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform. The partnership combines production-grade hardware and AI software to meet regional regulations and scalability requirements for autonomous taxis.
2. Advancing Level 2++ Driver Assistance
Building on its existing Level 2 ADAS—featuring Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking and Intelligent Speed Assist—VinFast plans to roll out Level 2+ and Level 2++ capabilities. Each software iteration will undergo extensive real-world testing and safety validation before commercial release.
3. Camera-First Autonomous Architecture
VinFast’s “Robo-Car” architecture relies on seven production-grade cameras and a high-performance computing module capable of 20 trillion operations per second, avoiding costly LiDAR and multiple radar arrays. Integrated Air-to-Road localization fuses live camera feeds with satellite imagery to enhance environmental perception and decision-making.
4. Pilot Testing and Scalability Roadmap
Current enhanced Level 2++ systems are being piloted on VF 8 and VF 9 vehicles in controlled zones in Hanoi, Vietnam, with plans to expand into larger urban areas and international markets. This phased approach aims to progressively introduce intelligent assistance features while maintaining affordability across multiple vehicle platforms.
