VisionWave Secures Provisional Patent, Agrees to $17.5M Foresight Acquisition
Pentagon requested over $70B for counter-drone UAS systems in its FY2027 budget, and global contracts topped $29B in Q1 2026, expanding demand for suppliers like VisionWave. VisionWave filed a provisional patent for its xCalibre AI vision platform and agreed to acquire up to 51% of Foresight Autonomous for $17.5M.
1. Surge in Counter-UAS Budgets
The Pentagon requested over $70B for drone platforms and counter-UAS in its FY2027 budget, while global government spending on counter-UAS contracts exceeded $29B in Q1 2026, including investments in AI-powered surveillance towers along the U.S. southern border. These spending surges are driving demand for sensing and interception technologies produced by VisionWave.
2. xCalibre Platform Patent Filing
VisionWave filed a U.S. provisional patent application (No. 64/048,141) for its xCalibre visual intelligence platform, an AI-driven architecture that converts conventional camera feeds into structured sensor data for detection, tracking, threat scoring and real-time response across visible, thermal, infrared and robotic platforms.
3. Foresight Autonomous Acquisition Plan
The company signed a term sheet to acquire up to 51% of Foresight Autonomous Holdings for $17.5M in VisionWave equity, integrating Foresight’s stereo vision and thermal imaging capabilities with the xCalibre AI platform. BDO Consulting Group valued the xCalibre IP at approximately $60M, bolstering VisionWave’s patent-backed sensor intelligence stack.
4. Broader Strategic Transactions
VisionWave completed Phase One of its SaverOne 2014 transaction, agreed to advance a planned 51% acquisition of C.M. Composite Materials, and secured a controlling stake in Junko Solar. The company also presented autonomous drone applications to Latin American officials and obtained exclusive access to offshore energy blocks in the Liberia Basin, underscoring its diversified defense and energy technology strategy.
