VNET Raises 36% Renewable Energy Use, Launches Hyperscale 2.0, Issues RMB860M Green ABS

VNET increased renewable energy consumption to 1,253,719 MWh in 2025, accounting for 36% of total resources, up from 18% in 2024, while improving data center PUE to 1.24 from 1.27. The company issued a RMB860 million green real estate ABS and secured a RMB650 million sustainability-linked loan.

1. Renewable Energy and Efficiency Improvements

In 2025 VNET sourced 1,253,719 MWh (36%) of its energy from renewables, up from 18% in 2024, and improved average data center PUE to 1.24 from 1.27. Its integrated source-grid-load-storage project at the Ulanqab IDC Campus was added to the national green and low-carbon demonstration list.

2. Hyperscale 2.0 Framework and SHIELD 2.0

The company officially launched its Hyperscale 2.0 framework leveraging direct green power connections, large-scale energy integration and smart power dispatch, and advanced its SHIELD 2.0 sustainability system covering Society, Human, Innovation, Environment, Leadership and Development.

3. Green Financing Initiatives

VNET issued China's first green holding-type real estate asset-backed security valued at RMB860 million and closed a three-year sustainability-linked loan of RMB650 million to support intelligent infrastructure and green data center operations.

4. ESG Ratings, Workforce Diversity and Compliance

VNET maintained ISO/IEC 20000 and ISO/IEC 27001 certifications across all operations, sustained a 99.6% customer satisfaction rate, and ensured 100% anti-corruption training coverage. Female employees represented 26% of the workforce (31% in management), while the company scored 73 in the S&P Global assessment, earned a 'B' on the CDP Climate Change questionnaire and received a 'low risk' rating from Sustainalytics.
