VW unit MOIA begins US robotaxi rides with Orlando rollout
Volkswagen’s MOIA America has begun its first US passenger operations with robotaxi rides in Orlando’s Lake Nona community, working with Beep. Riders can request trips on three routes through Beep’s app; self-driving ID. Buzz vehicles will have human monitors onboard.
1. Orlando rides begin
MOIA America and autonomous mobility operator Beep have rolled out robotaxi rides in Orlando’s Lake Nona community, marking MOIA America’s first US passenger operations. Passengers can request rides through the Beep app and use dedicated pickup and drop-off locations on three routes.
2. Vehicles and expansion
The self-driving ID. Buzz vehicles use a system developed by Mobileye and will operate with human monitors onboard during this phase. MOIA America is also conducting on-road testing and validation in Los Angeles and Austin before commercial operations there.
