Harmonic teams up with Lightcurve to deliver multi-gigabit broadband to MDUs over coax
HLIT•Harmonic partnered with Lightcurve to deliver broadband to multi-dwelling units over existing coax wiring, with speeds up to 8 Gbps downstream and 1 Gbps upstream. The deployment uses Harmonic’s cOS virtualized broadband platform and avoids a fiber overbuild while preserving an upgrade path to fiber.
1. Broadband over coax
Harmonic and Lightcurve are deploying multi-gigabit broadband to multi-dwelling units over existing in-building coax wiring. The service targets speeds up to 8 Gbps downstream and 1 Gbps upstream using Harmonic’s cOS virtualized broadband platform.
2. Network implementation
The implementation uses a software upgrade of cOS Core, Oyster nodes and Pebble Remote PHY devices in a distributed access architecture. Lightcurve also adopted Harmonic Central for AI-driven network analytics to support proactive troubleshooting and service quality.
